Eyebrow Transplant

Not everybody has a thick set of eyebrows, and there may be times when ever they can be rather thin, and perhaps even nonexistent. At times, this occurs because of genetic problems but at other times, laser hair removal gone wrong or perhaps even plucking the eyebrows too much can cause these issues. Hormonal abnormalities, including hypothyroidism can also cause your eyebrows to thin. When you are having this problem, having an eyebrow transplant is an option that you can look into.

It may come as a surprise to you, that the same people that do hair restoration surgery are often able to perform a very accurate eyebrow transplant for you. This is due to the fact that whenever they use the right type of surgery, they have the ability to perform the delicate technique that is necessary to do this properly. That is why it is very important for you to look into the techniques that are used by the hair transplant surgeon prior to deciding to use them for your eyebrows. Here is one of the only options that I would never consider in this regard.

The most modern and accurate form of hair transplant surgery is known as micro follicular hair transplantation. Because it uses a microscopic technique, it is able to insert the eyebrows properly so that they continue to grow properly. There are a number of different things that need to be considered in this regard. First of all, you need to have the absolute smallest incision that is possible so that scarring is not going to be an issue. This type of procedure can offer that to you. Along with that, the angle in which the new hairs are inserted into the eyebrows also needs to be done properly. When using pinpoint hair restoration, this is also a possibility.

What might come as a surprise to you, is the fact that you can use hair off of your head in order to perform the eyebrow transplant surgery. The one difficulty that you may run into, although it is a small price to pay is the fact that this hair is going to continue to grow at the same rate as the hair on your head. More than likely, a little bit of trimming will be necessary whenever you have your hair cut and you can also do this at home on your own. Along with that, if a stray hair should happen to grow in the wrong direction, it can also be retrained to grow in the proper direction.

The eyebrow transplant procedure itself last approximately 2 hours. During this time, anywhere from 50 up to 325 hairs can be inserted into each eyebrow. This will, of course, depend upon your desires and the existing density of the eyebrows themselves. At around two weeks, the hairs will fall out but this is the natural cycle of transplanted hair. It will continue to grow from that point and it will be permanently yours from that point forward.
